FORCED Respect

September 26, 2008

You would never forget his name“, my friend said, its so easy to remember it rhymes with “maaya”.This was about the teacher I had in my college. A small petite man who would not appear to be a man of any importance unless for his long almost “sage-like”  beard. Somehow Kaaya had risen the ranks in all these years to become the head of the department. “BULLSHIT” he would say to innocent students expected to know as much as Marco polo did after all his travels.

Saaya was that typical kind of ageing indian guy you will find everywhere in india, who forces you to respect him because he has a long beard and is old or is clinging on to a “prestigious” seat in the society. “How dare you say that in front of me, i can throw you out in seconds” he would say with blowing the air completely out of his lungs for added effects  which made Dooya sir appear like buddha would with his rib bones after years of meditation.

Students who sere crazy about Haaya sir would obvioulsy get the perks , win competetions judged by him, appear more pumped up than the students who would be on the recieving end of his taunts ranging from insulting family to hairstyle to skin color that too during vivas.

While I tried to atleast remember his name, Looya sir grew in his power, somewhat reminding me of Qutubuddin Aibaq of Slave dynasty who was left by Mhd.Gazni to rule and plunder India. He was surrounded by men like himself, and all of them would make each other appear more pathetic if they were less, alone. He and his sharp sounding comments would make me defocus for days together, almost throw me into a depression , make me feel like shit , he made me believe in himself and expect kind words out of him only to be taken back into reality next time. I learnt later that its all fake.

Fooya sir and characters like him flood normal life of India demanding and craving respect. These men make it apparent that its their birth right to command awe and fear. No you should not ask “why” to these men like Gooya sir , its their grey beards which answer the question

my top 10 KAFKA quotes

September 23, 2008

I don’t need to introduce Kafka, i have read some books by him, here are some of my personal favorites quotes by him.(yeah ok! new to reading him , therefore going gaga)

10. It is only our conception of time that makes us call the Last Judgment by this name. It is, in fact , a kind of martial law.”

9. One must not cheat anyone, not even the world of its victory“.

8. Religions get lost as people do“.

7. “The spirit becomes free only when it ceases to be a support.”

6. “Youth is happy because it has the ability to see beauty. Anyone who keeps the ability to see beauty never grows old.

5. “There are only two things. Truth and lies. Truth is indivisible, hence it cannot recognize itself; anyone who wants to recognize it has to be a lie.

4.The fact that our task is exactly commensurate with our life gives it the appearance of being infinite.

3.You are free and that is why you are lost

2.”The meaning of life is that it stops”

1.”Every revolution evaporates and leaves behind only the slime of a new bureaucracy”

Urban Assault

September 22, 2008

I was watching T.V with my mum one day, and i noticed that for about some minutes now she hadn’t spoken. I had ignored some really irritating noise(of “hussssh”) and turned my head to the direction of the source to investigate and stop the irritation. I saw mum behind the wall with a roll of newspaper (intended for violent use) in her hand and her little head popping out and her face turned aggressive. I looked where the trembling newspaper roll was pointing. I wasn’t surprised at finding what was being pointed and shooed away but was surprised at the mere act which seemed to me like the reaction of two dogs in a territorial conflict.
Well it was a medium sized langur(monkey) who was not that interested in TV but was looking quite baffled with this weird reaction of the human being and was looking forward to accept the offer(of the paper roll), but didn’t quite know if it could eat it. What it did next was quite anticipated if you were in its place, it grabbed the news paper, ran out of the door , tried to chew it and realized it somehow didn’t have the taste for it. The scene ended up with shreds of paper, screams and paw prints.

My mum who was quick to close the window said पता नही कौन गला शिकार होगा, जय हनुमान.”(i.e.”god knows who will be the next victim, jai hamuman”). the first part of the sentence(about the victim) was devoted to the popular detective show on a third grade hindi news channel , where as the later part was to worship the monkey(or the monkey god) who was being shooed away a while ago.
This was the biggest reverse culture shock I had received after coming back from europe.I was in India and a monkey could just enter and leave my house at its own will, it was treated with disgust first and was praised(ironically) when it wasn’t there to listen and was busy attacking other households. It was and still is some amusement to see day today things and wonder if the thought of amusement really deserves a thought? or is it worse than before? or is it better than before? or is the great Indian tolerance superficial? or is the opposite where the disgust is superficial and tolerance deep?

There was recently a story in The Times of India about Drunk Monkeys attacking Humans in Orissa. (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/1080182.cms).

Why?
Because the Hindus believe that Pawan Dev (God of Air, wind ) incarnated in the form of a monkey and helped the human race and Ram(Vishnu’s incarnation) to fight evil and played a major role . This means that all monkeys must be divine and thus treated with tolerance, if not equal they have a greater right to live.
Yeah right! Such belief in a society which takes over the natural habitat of monkeys and kills many of them out of fear, anger or contempt seems quite hypocritical. Where is the logic?

By this logic if monkeys were to rule the world and take our homes one day, they should rightfully worship the entire human race because Jesus Christ was born to humans.

FAKING apocalypse NEWS

September 22, 2008

This really happened.

A popular school(sadhu vasvani!) in a small area of Ahmadabad in India gave a day of to the students. My neighbor’s kid (age 12) studies there. This is the conversation which followed.

me: what happened why didn’t you go to school today?

kid: today is our holiday.

me: wow! what for?

kid: the world is going to end! didn’t you see the news.

me:hey pretty funny for your age eh! he eh eh

kid: huh? no its true switch on the TV and check out yourself!

me: what the hell kid! How is the world going to end!

kid: mad scientists have dug a tunnel below the earth , to create black hole and suck the
entire earth.

Ii switched on a news channel and the headline said आज ख़त्म हो जायेगी धरती
i.e the world will end today, went on further to sayमहा दानव या महा मशी ?”
i.e. machine or devil ,what is it?

I changed the channel, another news channel repeated the same head line this time with a footage of a tornado in order to convey black hole, another channel had taken clips from “metropolis”.
I tried to check the internet to figure out what these guys wearing nice suits and highly educated with a responsible job to the society are saying. I checked the calender to see if it was 1st of April ,but it was 10th September 2008.It turned out that the fuss was about (LHC) Large Hadron Collider the worlds largest particle accelerator was supposed to start working that day and theoretically under lab conditions produce “tiny black holes”.

I can’t help but loathe the school which gave a day off and at the news channels.

check these site out for basics.

God (if exists) help the victims of these channels. The next day some of them were blabbering about how Ganesha will help you this year.the funny thing is people watch these channels and believe them. Well I feel disgusted to talk about this though I myself am getting addicted to cheap news lately , it goes to a point that it gets so loathsome, so fleshy, so juicy, so addictive.

I would like also to post a cartoon I had created few days ago, with screws as my characters.I call it Screws point of view or SPV, hope it will be a feature to my blog

Dawn of the yawn

September 22, 2008

Yeah the stock markets crashed, heard about people committing suicide due to the lost money here in India.Think it might be a small price to pay for capitalism, after all the money shouldn’t belong to normal people , it should belong to the super rich who can ,you know, afford to loose some money.Normal people don’t deserve money after all they submit there money to the super rich, and make them a bit richer. Yaaaaaaawn!!!! all this now ceases to amuse me.May be I am getting old or everything is getting too repetitive.

“A first sign of the beginning of understanding is the wish to die. “as Kafka put it might be a ray of hope to human kind and makes you feel optimistic about all the suicides around us. I will never be able to figure out why people commit suicide until I feel like. Yeah right! MR.Kafka and if you didn’t want your books to be published , why didn’t you burn them actually instead of just asking your friend to do the job for you.

Here too history repeats again! All so called great men have been treated like God(para normal superhuman). After all people come on , if a police man does his job to catch criminal so does the sweeper do by keeping the streets clean , is sweeping less valuable?

Notably only coca cola and McDonald shares were reported to survive the US financial crisis, explaining ….. well i don’t need to write that! I am studying architecture and hoping that there are enough opportunities to make buildings though a war might be good opportunity for us architects, wont it ? Sounds familiar , its like captivating a tiger first for fun, killing some tigers and captivating the rest in pretext of saving their lives.

Don’t you think a mission to moon is due for a long time , I think Egyptians might be the last ones who landed there, World leaders might be thinking whether “the untouched moon” might grow fungus and rot if not used properly. Like now they are “touching” the ocean depths to exploit it .

Yaaaaaaaawn! man it never ends i am sleepy , lets go and watch some Reality show , atleast its vulgarity will compensate lack of other vulgarities around when I sleep and dont dream of the reality.

Check this site out to find whether coke or mcD is bigger if you care.
